Addiction does not affect just one person. When someone uses mood altering substances it affects everyone around them. Living with or caring about someone who obsessively seeks out and uses substances daily, causes an enormous amount of suffering. Family therapy is often essential to heal the wounded relationships that addictive behaviors create. At Keys we work with families of persons who are in treatment, as well as families who are trying to help their loved one become motivated to seek treatment. Tuesday is Family Day at Keys. Family members are invited to attend morning or afternoon sessions. This is optional for participants and not everyone has a family member available. However, patients who have a family member that participates in treatment tend to have better outcomes in their path to recovery.
